As the debates begin to ebb against the Arizona immigration enforcement law with attention focused on the ecologic crisis in the Gulf of Mexico, President Obama requests additional support to the U.S. - Mexico border.

Validating the legitimacy of the claims of inept government border enforcement, President Obama is sending some 1,200 additional National Guard troops to enhance border intelligence gathering, surveillance and reconnaissance in the politically embattled southern border region.  (Read more).

"Because it has not been enforced, let's just use that as the reason to not enforce it."  And so, the battle over Arizona's new immigration law wages on and stoops to new lows.

The nation, in an uproar over Mexico’s President being allowed to go unchallenged when denouncing the Arizona immigration law before the US Congress has left Liberals and Conservatives alike with a new understanding of whose side the Obama administration is actually on.  It is not America’s side if you’re wondering. It is hard to imagine that doing the right thing can be construed as being the wrong thing to do.  Enforcement of the law is what every citizen expects in any community; in fact is it demanded.  Why then is moving to enforce longstanding federal law considered wrong? (Read more).

A beautiful Sunday morning.  The warm sun floating high in the cloudless sky bringing the green covered mountains to life.  After more than six months, the snow was completely gone.  For the first time this year, one could look up at the Huachuca Mountains and not see snow covered peaks, a snow that in all of my years in Arizona lasted the entire winter and well into the spring months. “Is the recession over?”  “Probably.”

We have been hearing since late summer and early fall – that the recession is/was over.  Is it true?  Let’s hope so. But why do we not see things getting better?

The fact of the matter is simple.  It is all in the definition of “recession;” - A significant decline in activity spread across the economy that lasts longer than a few months. (Read more).

Arizona moved forward with immigration enforcement laws that lead nine other states to seek similar immigration enforcement measures.  Despite the protests and threats of lawsuits, there is more support than there is opposition.  Tuesday, Governor Jan Brewer signed a new measure cracking down on ethnic studies in public schools.  House Bill 2281 has not only again sparked national interest, it almost immediately fell under direct UN criticism. Politics is a very peculiar seed that grows into a very odd plant.  It's funny how history repeats itself and season after season that odd plant springs back to life out of nowhere.  The 2010 Mid-Term Elections could well be the beginning of both.  Perhaps what is best for President Obama is a Republican revolution that likens itself to that of '94 that fueled governmental accomplishments.  Sound peculiar?  It should not.  As with the Clinton administration, major Democrat losses could actually result in better overall government. A 51st state?  That's a huge deal!   We have not had a new state since August 21, 1959 when Hawaii joined this great Union of States.  That was a big deal with much fanfare and celebration as many in the nation applauded the growth and expansion of Americanism.  Yet, the Obama administration is set to vote on H.R.2499 next week with little utterance of what is going on.  It seems that something is amiss.  Rightfully so because something is.  What we do know about the Obama administration is that the practice of "WIFM" politics is on an unprecedented level.  This legislative measure is par for the course. McCain's polls drop... yet again!  This time a tactical error on his part.  In more recent weeks McCain has gone on record as being a supporter of immigration enforcement as he coupled with Junior Arizona Senator, Jon Kyl, on a new border security plan.  The problem McCain faces is a simple one; voters are more informed and unlike the "hope and change" voters of 2008, they now know exactly what they want.
